P90X / P90 Review: P90X vs. P90 – I Love the Power 90 In Home Boot Camp!

Hi guys,

My name is Heather, Dennis’s wife.  I’m also an Independent Team Beachbody Fitness Coach.  Because I share the same passion for fitness as Dennis, he asked me if I would start regularly contributing to his blog.

One of the first things I want to talk about is P90, not P90X, but P90 (AKA “Power 90″…the ‘original 90 Day In Home BootCamp’).  Dennis calls P90X “his baby”, so I guess P90 would have to be my baby :)

Many of you are probably unfamiliar with P90.  You won’t see infomercials for it running on TV any longer.  Since P90X is the rage these days, that’s all everyone seems to want or talk about.  BUT, P90 was Beachbody’s original 90 day in home bootcamp.  P90X actually came into existance as a more extreme version of P90.  Once people graduated the P90 program, they wanted even MORE.  Beachbody sure did give it to them!

Don’t think for a second though that P90 is some wimpy workout.  It’s NOT!  It IS less intense than P90x though, takes less time to complete a workout, and costs almost half of what P90X costs.  Not only that, but there really isn’t any additional equipment to buy.  What you get from Beachbody is what you need to do your workouts.  For less than $60, you can get a GREAT workout each day!

The Power 90 (P90) workouts are fat burning and body sculpting routines that REALLY target the abs, thighs, and upper body.  You’ll do lots of circuit training.  These routines are fast and effective.  You can transform your body in as little as 35 minutes a day.  The P90X workouts usually run from 45 minutes to the longest, yogaX, which is an hour and a half.

Don’t get me wrong, I love P90X too.  It’s incredible.  But, it’s an advanced workout program.  The first P90X workout, chest/back, is basically an hour straight of pushups and pullups (with a couple little breaks thrown in- plus a warmup and cool down period)!   I know there are MANY people reading this post right now who aren’t quite ready for an hour of pushups and pullups!

But you know what, that’s OK!  There are options.  There are ALWAY options.  P90 is a perfect starting point for many people.  If it’s been years since your last workout or you’re brand new to fitness, give P90 a try.  Do it for 90 days, and THEN take on P90X.

If you pass the test and have an extreme attitude :) , then by all means, get started with P90X.  If you have trouble with the test or are worried P90X may be too much for you to handle right now, give P90 a try first.  And, like I said, you can still take on P90X once you complete your first 90 days of P90.  Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither was your body. :)

Jason started off with P90 and followed it up 90 days later with a 90 day round of P90X.  Those results are from 6 months of hard work.  Are you willing to work hard for 6 months see the kinds of results Jason had?

Even in Dennis’s earlier blog posts, he talks about how he got ready for P90X.  He basically spent about 2 months at a local gym doing some light cardio and circuit training routines.  Over these 2 months, he lost some weight, cleaned up his diet, and got his body and metabolism ’primed’ for P90X.  Once he started P90X, things started getting crazy!  I do believe that those 2 months really exploded his results, AND kept him injury free during his first round of P90X.

So in closing, definitely give P90 some thought.  It’s a wonderful, inexpensive program that can give you some incredible results in 90 days.  Then, go all out with P90X!  If you are ready now for P90X, go for it!  Dennis is standing behind me now nodding his head and winking ;)

Check Out These 60 Day P90X Results!
